Base Metal

Base metal simply means a combination of metals mixed together, most commonly with a silver or brass coloured finish. These alloys can contain tin, copper, brass, rhodium or other metals to make an appropriately strong and coloured metal for the purpose it is intended. Base metal alloys allow jewellery to be made far more cheaply than those made from fine metals.

In the UK, where we are based, there is a requirement that there be no more than 0.5micrograms of nickel released from any product intended to touch the skin per week. This is a much higher standard of purity than required under US law. Therefore you would find that our jewellery has little or no nickel in it, fully satisfying the needs of those with allergies and/or sensitive skin.
