Rhodium

Rhodium is a membre of the platinum family of metals, but because it is more common and widespread, it is cheaper. Don’t let that fool you into thinking it is a poor choice – rhodium has many excellent qualities identical to it’s expensive big brother, platinum. Firstly, it is non-reactive. This means that unlike silver, which needs polishing, or base metal, which rusts, rhodium still looks just as good decades after you first date it. Secondly, this non-reactiveness means it won’t cause allergic reactions in anyone. Thirdly, it is durable and tough, being stronger than silver, which makes it less likely to break. Lastly, it looks close to silver, being just slightly darker in colour, so for high quality jewellery pieces that will last years, rhodium makes an excellent choice.
